2013 GOLDEN GLOBES Favorites

Hello Divas,

Are any of you a fan of watching the Golden Globes on T.V?? I truly enjoyed watching the show this year especially with the two host they had "TINY FEY" & "AMY POLHER"(spell check) Those Chicks are Hilarious. They really need to use them again...their skits, monologues and jabs(jokes) were gut wrenching funny...I'm also looking forward to seeing some of the films/pictures that were nominated/won Golden Globe Awards...

Now lets get to the other good part...THE FASHION.

I thought it would be fun to add my two cent and post a few of my favorite dresses of the night and who I thought were best dressed...

Favs:

1. You know, sometime simple is BETTER...this dress doesn't have alot going on but the lines the way it's perfectly tailored to her body is right on the money. It's quiet but loud at the same time. It's regal. And let me just add that I LOVE her Anne Hathaway new Pixie cut on her, it's so chic!

I just want to say that this is another kinda simple floor length gown. I say kinda because there are detail at the bottom(trail) Another thing I love most about this gown is the CORAL color. It look so good against her complexion. She had the perfect hair style for it(half on/half off the shoulder) which was a good choice because you don't want your hair to take away from the dress itself. Very well put together Jessica Alba.

3. You know, Eva NEVER disappoints when it comes to red carpet events, at least I haven't seen her with any "OH NO, what was she thinking" moments. I think Eva grabbed the boys( i mean paparazzi)attention when she stepped out with that leg action. I don't know it BLACK would've been my choice of color to put on her but it worked in her favor..

4. Okay, let me just keep it REAL..this was so not one of my favorite dresses of the night but I had to add Adele because she can SING her but off. I love her voice and I felt the need to honor her vocal abilities.LOL.

 5. I have to admit that this was probably my favorite Dress of the night...Kate Hudson...the only thing that I wish would've been different is her hair...I mean this dress is a masterpiece on it own. It was meant to be shown off and I think her hair is in the way of that...That gold detail is a showstopper and jaw dropper, and I can't forget that belt that clinches her waist so perfectly. I guess there are some benefits of not having big boobs because she definitely pulled this one off. Kudos Kate!!

6.  Ms. Naomi Watts...I really love this color, and I love it on her. This dress is another one that doesn't have alot going on but with the little peephole detail at the top and train in the back it was enough. I think she had the perfect hair style for this dress as well. Her lipstick and pale foundation complimented each other perfectly..

7. I really like this dress, it was almost a nude color. I was very well fitted and it kinda gave off this mermaid effect which I thought was cute. I don't know if I like her hair though. It gives off this 60's-70's vibe with the whole finger wave. I think I probably would've liked it better down but OH WELL, she still looked graceful and poise.

So there you have it ladies, a few of my favorite dresses from the Golden Globes. I probably would've picked maybe one or two more "maybes" but I was kinda iffy about them as well.

P.S I haven't watched any fashion police shows or heard any fashion critics thoughts..these are all my personal thoughts and opinions.

So tell me, did you check out the show this year? If so, what were some of your favorites???

BLUE HUE??!

Who knew you could do so much with blue?? There are so many different shades of blue. I wore at one of my husband and I Anniversary dinners and let me just say that it looked GREAT on me.  It's actually one of my favorite pictures. I never thought of blue being one of my signature colors but I'm going to add it more often to my ensemble.  Blue can be paired and compliments with a variety of colors but I found for me blue and black and blue and gold to be two of my favorite color combination parings.  So, now I ask you ARE YOU A BLUE GIRL?? HAVE YOU TRIED PARING IT WITH ANY OTHER COLOR, if so which one?? I'd love to know.

BLUE HUE??!

10 Makeup Mistakes that adds 10yrs

Hey Ladies,

So I came across this article online and felt that I should share this because I totally agree with majority of the Makeup Mistakes that women are guilty of. Read it and let me know your thoughts and what you think..do you agree/disagree?? Share your thoughts in the comment box of the facebook fan page.

Mistake #1: Using Too Much Foundation

A foundation that's too thick will settle into fine lines and sap the luminosity from your skin. "Only use foundation where you need it to even out discoloration," says makeup artist Frances Hathaway. "You don't have to cover every inch of your skin." When buying a foundation, avoid those described as "matte," "velvet," and "long-wearing"; look for sheer liquid formulas with light-diffusing pigments. If you have dry skin, foundation can look patchy and accentuate discoloration, so exfoliate two to three times a week and always apply a moisturizer after cleansing. Hathaway's favorite moisturizers to use under foundation: Aveda All Sensitive Moisturizer for combination or normal skin  and Weleda Skin Food for dry skin

Mistake #2: Over-Concealing Your Under-Eye Circles

A thick concealer that comes in a stick or pot will eradicate the shadows under your eyes, but it will also draw attention to the crepiness and fine lines that usually show up in that area first (because the skin there is thin). A better option: A brush-on highlighter pen  that uses illuminating particles, not opaque color, to camouflage dark circles. Apply it only near the inner corners of your under-eye area, where shadows are most prominent (and lines least).

Mistake #3: Wearing Deep, Dark Lip Colors

A dark color makes any surface look smaller--a welcome illusion perhaps on your hips but not your lips. To make your mouth look fuller (one hallmark of a youthful face), choose bright lipsticks and glosses (peaches, pinks, vibrant reds) over deep shades (burgundies, wines, browns). Makeup artists use another trick to create the illusion of luscious lips: Before applying color, trace a highlighter pencil along your upper lip line, then buff it out with your finger.

Mistake #4: Finishing with Powder

Youthful skin reflects light. Powders prevent light reflection and tend to magnify lines in the skin. If powder has been the final step of your makeup routine since high school, it can be difficult to quit cold-turkey. Here's a three-step program: First, switch to a very sheer translucent powder. Then, start using it only on your nose and chin. Finally, trade the powder for a packet of blotting tissues--use one, only on the T-zone (nose, chin, and forehead), if you're shiny midday.

Mistake #5: Wearing Black Eyeliner

Don't skip eyeliner altogether--it's a great way to make your eyes look more open--but choose brown over black, which can be harsh. And keep the color diffuse. "You want to define the eyes with softness and blending, not strict lines," says makeup artist Troy Surratt. "A thick liner can leave the upper lids looking heavier than they are." The best technique: Trace a brown pencil liner along the upper lash line (into the roots of the lashes), focusing on the outer corners; smudge it with a Q-tip.

Mistake #6: Going Overboard with Lip Liner

A lip liner can define your lips and prevent color from feathering into any lines around the mouth--but choose one very carefully. If you line your lips too heavily, or with a color that's too dark, they'll look tight and pursed. For the most natural effect, your lip liner should match the color of your lips, not the color of your lipstick. Choose a creamy formula that won't adhere to any dry patches, and use it to fill in your lips entirely, so it wears evenly.

Mistake #7: Using Liner and Mascara on Your Lower Lashes
Playing up your lower lashes can make your eyes look droopy and draw attention to dark circles. Instead, curl your upper lashes and wiggle a volumizing mascara into their roots and slowly through the ends for the most uplifting effect.

Mistake #8: Skipping Blush

A rosy flush on your cheeks brings instant life to your face. And, if applied correctly, blush can offer a little lift. Smile, find the fleshiest part of your cheek and apply color just slightly above it. Blend the color out toward your temples in circles, not a line, using a big fluffy brush. You want to avoid a stripe of color that stretches along your cheekbones, which can make you look drawn and hollow, says Surratt.

Mistake #9: Applying Lipstick Straight from the Tube

The borders of the lips soften with age, and any extra lipstick migrates easily. To avoid bleeding color, use your finger or a lip brush so that you don't deposit too much pigment. Concentrate the lipstick in the center of your mouth, and blend it out with a finger. Top it with a moisturizing balm or light gloss.

Mistake #10: Choosing a Too-Dark Eyebrow Pencil

"Your brow color fades as you age, so the brow pencil that you were using at 25 will look too stark against your complexion at 50," says makeup artist Denise . She recommends Maybelline Define-a-Brow Eyebrow Pencil which come in four shades. Choose the one that's a shade or two lighter than your natural brow color. If your brows are starting to get a little wiry, run a clear brow gel over them as well, brushing them up and out toward your temples.

**GIVING BACK**

Have you always been a giver or a taker??

Personally I've ALWAYS given more than I've taken from people. Even when it came to people I use to hang with back in the day. I never wanted to be known as a taker or user, so I made sure I gave more than I took. I think if more of us had that mentality our world would be a better place to live in. We'd be able to tolerate each other better and certain relationships would last if we had that GIVING HEART!

Some may say, "I don't have the money to give", or "I'm not financially able to give, I have bills to pay". Well there is good news for you, You don't have to have money to give someone your time, energy, kind words, LOVE,  encouragement, support or presence non of those requires money/cash. So no more excuses.

I can honestly say that a few of my MOST VALUABLE and most REWARDING gifts has not required money. That's right, it was FREE with many benefits. You want to know what it is, it has been PRAYER from others. That's right, PRAYER!!! Don't estimate it's power. Someone took out the "time" "energy" and thoughtfulness to pray for me. And let me tell you, it has CHANGED my life and heart FOREVER!! Although it's not something you can physically hold, but it is something that you can feel deep in your soul and it will change your spiritual life. There's nothing like spiritual peace. So when you run out of ideas of gifts to give and things you can do for someone "PRAY FOR THEM", encourage them, LOVE up on them and let them know you're praying for them and their families daily.

Other Acts of Kindness and ways to give:

1. Mentoring "sponsor a child, be apart of their life let them know you care and love them daily"

2. Cook a Meal for a Mom that just delivered a baby, a widow, or family that just lost a loved one.

3. Clean up an Elderly person home or send a company to do it, if you're not physically able.

4. Visit a Children's Hospital bring a toy and read a book to them if possible

5. Volunteer to read to kids at your local library

6. Pay for the person that's in line with you groceries

7. Host Charity Events/Parties at your home

8. Volunteer to Babysit for a married couple one weekend

9. Deliver Fresh Baked Cookies to a neighbor or co-worker

10. Bring Flowers to someone

11. Pay for someone Starbucks Coffee/Donuts behind you in a drive-thru.

12. Pray for Someone

Just a few things of acts of kindness that I wanted to share. I will post more because you can never run out of giving ideas..it's the littlest things that has the MOST impact. Trust me, this isn't going to only bless someone else but this will ALSO bless you and make your whole. I promise once you start giving, your heart will never be the same.

Share some of your acts of Kindness and tell us how it's affected you and the impact it's made on your life (below in the comment box).

Show your "boobs" some attention

 Hey Diva's

When was the last time you have a mammogram?? If you can't remember or if you NEVER had one then maybe it's time you go get "your girls" checked. I actually received my very FIRST one just last week...although it was my FIRST mammogram it was not my FIRST time getting a breast exam. Usually my doctor would do a self check/hands on exam when I go in for my yearly physical, or they'd send me to get an ultrasound(which is good, but a mammogram can detect better). However, this time I requested and demanded an actual mammogram. I didn't request it because I felt something was wrong, or because I felt a mysterious knot in my breast, I requested it because I wanted one. I mean why not if you have the insurance to cover it?? At first my insurance wanted to say they didn't cover it(the mammogram exam) because I wasn't over 40yrs yet..which kind of puzzled me because it's not like people haven't been diagnosed with breast cancer before they even reached 40...this time I put my foot down and had my doctor REQUEST that I get an exam..and we both made it happen. All you have to do is speak up, be persistent and all things can work out for your good. :o)

Note: If you have GREAT insurance, USE IT...and get checked.

The Actual Exam Day:

So, I went to this health and wellness center to get the exam. Got called back, and began the process..I must say it was EXACTLY what I expected..LOL. It really wasn't painful, but it was uncomfortable. They pretty much make you take off your clothes from the waist up, drape you in a gown and place this big protector thingy(sorry don't know the technical terms) around your waist to protect your ovaries. Next, they adjust this huge machine to your height..make you step closer...as close as you can get..lift up your breast and they place your breast on this flat surface...and then...and then..and then..they turn on the machine and it presses your breast FLAT..which is so uncomfortable(lol). So they do that at every angle on both breast and VOILA...you're done. So, it's not really bad and it's SOOO worth the early detection/ prevention. The sooner you find that EVIL cancer the better off you are.

So Ladies..GET CHECKED!!!
