Your Past (Woman2Woman)

Question: Have you allowed yourself to let go of your past? Did you know that holding on to your past will not change anything about it? You'll still have the same past, and you'll still be confused and miserable. So why not let go of it.

My Story:
I found myself holding on to a grudge against a certain individual that use to be apart of my life. It was so great that every time someone would bring up that person name, i'll get upset all over again and the ill feelings would grow deeper. I knew God was working and dealing with me on this because every time I'd go to church or mention it to my mom or husband the word FORGIVENESS would come up. I knew it was God working on me through them to give me that message. So I finally forgave that individual because it was something I HAD to do in order to make it to my destination...HEAVEN! My pride and my flesh DID NOT want to do it because I KNEW i didn't do anything wrong to that person, (even after the person  lies, deceit, selfishness, speaking evil against me) even after all that, my thought process had me thinking I didn't have to forgive that person...WRONG..I did. Again, it was not something I wanted to do, it was something I HAD to do. It wasn't for them, it was for GOD and me. My mom use to always tell me, "what the devil set up for your harm, GOD turns it around and set it up for your GOOD". I promise that's been the case in my life over these last 3yrs. I honestly don't think I'd be where I am spiritually in my walk with Christ had I still been in that friendship today. So I thank GOD for where I am in life now, because I see now everything that happened was ALL in his PLANS. If you wondering did I reach out to the individual about the forgiveness, YES I did..it was HARD..but I had to do it.  I reached out to the individual via cellphone and said "you are forgiven, and I forgive you" it was the beginning of the conclusion of a chapter in my life.

Advice:
So, I said all that to say this, regardless of the things people say and do to you, KNOW that GOD protects and shield his people, and at the end of the day you have to forgive them and release them. You're not doing it for them, you're doing it to please GOD, because he's the one that will fight all battles for you. TRUST ME when I say this..he will FIGHT all battles for you. I'm a witness and after seeing it, I no longer feel the need to argue or go back and forth with people to protect myself or prove a case anymore.

Conclusion: If you ALLOW the PAST to define your PRESENT, you'll never get to LIVE the life you were meant to live. Let go of your anger. It's NO ONE else responsibility to make YOU feel better, you are the one that's in control, it's your choices and your responsibility.

Springy Pink (Fashion)

This is one of the Spring Top I purchased and added to my Month of Feb/March Haul...it's just a simply silky pink top that you can wear anywhere with anything (I've already listed/suggested in a previous blog of all the ways you can wear a shirt similar to this one). --->Here <---

What I'm wearing:
Top - Local Lotus Boutique
Skirt - Intimate Apparel
Accessories - Feathered Necklace Forever 21/ Pearl Studs Earrings-Macy's
Shoes - Sorry not shown but from Macy's.

Ladies be sure or feel free to comment(in the comment section below) or ask any questions you may have.

Remember, GOD loves you, and so do I.

Springy Pink (Makeup)

Okay, I've been asked by a few people about this look and shadows am I wearing...since I usually don't match my shadows with my attire I decided to stay in the pink(ish) family just to pay a little tribute to SPRING:

Because I knew it was going to be a busy shoot, I applied extra primer on the lids..

Products & Colors used:

1. Bare Minerals- Passion
2. Coastal Scents Warm Palette (two dark color to contour/crease and definition) sorry they don't   have the names on the palette.
3. MAC- Black Tied (also went over the crease, and made that outer V with this shadow)
4. MAC- Pearl & Rose Light Shadow (may be a limited edition because it was a holiday shadow)
5. MAC- Fluid Line Black Track (I used this to line the lash line and blended upwards)
6. MAC Foundation- Studio Sculpt (NW 43)
7. MAC- Bronzer/Golden ( it gives me that sun kissed glow I like)
8. MAC-Lipglass "pink" with a plain NUDE lip
9. MAC Fix+ is what I sealed the makeup with.
10. Maybelline's Mascara
11. Nars- Blush(orgasm) yes, that's the actual name of it...sorry.LOL.

Brownie Obsession (Domestic Skills)

Okay, so back in the day the hubby and I use to make a trip to have dinner at  T.G.I Friday on..well on FRIDAY nights(lol) and ofter times we'd almost always get a the BROWNIE OBSESSION from the dessert menu. Let me tell you, it is DELISH..well if  you notice,  I said "use" to make a trip there, that's because we no longer have a T.G.I close to us since we moved and the nearest one is too far to drive to. So we've been missing our sweet sensation. However, me being the DOMESTIC diva I am, I decided to make our own version(since my boo Steve suggested it) ..and I have to say, I can give TGI a run for their money..

T.G.I's Version

This is mine(on the top) since the Mr don't like whip cream
And this is Steve's Brownie

Note: As you can see I didn't add caramel toppings because caramel was baked in the brownie already, and I don't do pecan nuts. So know that you can add whatever extra toppings you life..THERE'S NO RULES(lol).

Here's what you'll need to make this Brownie Obsession:

1. Brownie Mix( The Best to me is Ghirardelli's Brownie Mix)
2. Vanilla Ice Cream( We love Blue Bell)
3. Chocolate Syrup (Hershey)
4. Whip Cream( optional)

Follow the Directions on the box for the brownies and please SERVE this while the brownies are STILL Warm!!! Once out the oven, get a couple scoops of ice cream, place on top of the brownies and then you can add your chocolate syrup. The Whip Cream is optional.  Let me tell you this is a very SIMPLE dessert to make..AND DELISH! Enjoy....also if you decide to try it, post in the comment area and let me know what you think and how it turns out.

Remember GOD Loves you and so do I..xoxoxo

A "Grey" Celebration Day (Fashion)

This is another one of my favorite Dresses...I wore this dress at a good friend of ours WEDDING...the details on the top with the "wrap" is what set this dress off to me. It's what caught my eye..It's such a statement that I almost didn't even wear a accessory with this particular dress, but I decided at the very last minute to throw a speck of black in there. As you can see, It's very figure fitting and that was a bonus as well, because I didn't need and you NEVER want anything to make you look big. Right?!

The Look:

Dress: Saks Fifth
Necklace: Forever 21
Shoes(sorry didn't get a pic) but they were black suede BCBG(don't worry I'll wear them again) :o)
Bracelet: The Bling Place

THE MUG:

This look was for a wedding and I wanted a more natural look(after all it was all about the BRIDE and I couldn't hog up ALL thee attention(just kidding).

For this look, I did a very soft baby pink eyeshadow by baremineralsI didn't want to go too heavy on the eyes (because it was daytime) and I didn't want a dramatic lip either. I added a soft sweep of Blush by Nars called "orgasm"(don't ask me where they get that name from)lol. Like I said earlier I didn't want to overdue it with a color lip, so I kept it simple with L'oreals lip colour in nude, so that the focus could be on the detail of the dress/ my statement piece(the necklace) and NOT my makeup.

In this Case..Less was MORE!

Share your thoughts and comments in the box below. Looking forward to hearing from you beauties.

I'VE..GONE...NUDE

Newest Shoe:

Hey Beauties,

Now I hope you guys didn't really think I was nude did you??? C'mon you have to know me well enough to know I'm better than that(Cheese). Anywho, so I was out one night with my husband and we decided to stop by our local outdoor shopping center called the "SUMMIT" in Birmingham...and I'm glad we did, because I stumbled up on these HAWT PLAIN NUDE PUMPS..and they are cuuuyoote...I've been on the hunt for a particular pair for awhile now and I finally found some, that matches my SKIN TONE (that's when you KNOW you've found your perfect nude shoe, when it blends to your skin tone). AND it's the MUST HAVE SHOE for the season..it goes with practically any and every outfit ensemble. You can't go wrong with a Nude pump..stiletto..flat etc.

Not only did I luck up and find a pair, but guess what? They were on SALE..yep I got these babies for only 30.00 at the Department store called BELK(they're pretty much only down south...i think). And that was my first time going in there because I thought it was a knock-off department version of MACY's..well I did.(lol)

Now I have to break them in a little and folks will be seeing me rock them for awhile because I LOVE them and because I can..DUH..WINNING! lol. So I'll put this in as one of my favorite bargain finds of 2012 thus far..and I'm sure they'll be more.

So without further adieu I introduce you to Mr & Mrs Nude :o)

Mr & Mrs "NUDE"

Comfort Level: They're pretty comfy but I KNOW I have to break them in before wearing. I don't do any heels over 7inch. That's wear I STOP(lol)! They were way more comfortable than expected. I think because of the extra platform on the inside and at the bottom of the shoe.
Have you guys stumbled up on some good bargins for 2012, if so do share in the comment box. Don't be shy we don't bite...well least I don't(lol).

High End or Low End Nudes..it doesn't matter they're BOTH HOT to have season round.

Foundation(Makeup) 101-The Basics

Hey Beauties,

Many women like liquid foundation best because it applies so smoothly and is easily found at your local drugstore. You can enhance the smoothness by putting it on with a slightly damp makeup sponge, brush or specialty applicator. Liquid makeup is good around the eyes, where you may want a bit more coverage. You can get foundation in different coverage and those are light, medium or full coverage depending on your preference.

You'll often see liquid makeup in waterproof or smudge proof or even 24 hour versions. But these specialized cremes contain oils and waxy ingredients, causing some sensitive wearers slight skin irritation. If you start having problems with breakouts when wearing waterproof makeup, switch to a non-waterproof type and see if it helps. With more people becoming aware of the importance of skin care to their overall health, companies are creating foundations made with organic ingredients such as essential oils, vegetable oils and minerals instead of chemical dyes. Be sure to find what's best for you and your skin. Foundations are available in the entire spectrum of skin tones. As age, stress and climate affect the skin the color of foundation should be checked and changed to match the skin tone at least every three months. Foundation should impart a glow to the face and lighten the skin tone.

                                         The Different Types of Foundations:

 Powder Foundations

The benefit of powder foundation is that it can be used by people with problem skin. Powder foundation sits on the skin and allows the skin to breathe. Pores are not clogged with powder foundation and the skin condition is not aggravated even with regular use.
Variety of Powder Foundation Products
Powder foundations are available in matt, sheer and satin finishes and give very good coverage in relation to the quantity used. Moreover, powder foundations are light on the skin and are popular in areas with a hot climate. Powder foundations are available as loose powder, to be applied with a foundation brush or in the form of a pressed powder compact, to be applied with a powder puff. Being very easy to apply, powder based foundations are preferred by women who are rushed for time. Powder foundations are best suited for people with oily skins. The powder soaks up the excess oils and tones down the oily shine. Problem areas for oily skins are the forehead and nose, which especially benefit from a coat of powder foundation.

Powder Foundation

Cream-to-Powder Foundation

One of the most interesting and popular foundation options is cream-to-powder foundation, made by companies of good reputation, like L'Oreal. It goes on as a liquid, but dries to a powder finish that minimizes oil and lasts all day. You'll find cream to powder makeup in compacts that look like powder (which may make you wonder why it isn't called powder to cream to powder makeup), or in tubes or bottles. The big draw is its easy application and the fact that you don't have to put on powder for full
coverage.

Cream to Powder Foundation

Minerals

Minerals are the latest thing in makeup. Their popularity has come about in part due to the fact that the foundation has very few ingredients, and those being inert minerals, tend to be perfect for people with allergies or sensitive skin. Brush on minerals with a big, puffy brush, building up layers of nearly-invisible powder. Advertised as a "soft-focus" look, mineral makeup has been compared with the airbrush in creating a flawless appearance.Do a comparison to find the best makeup for your skin by heading to a department store or drug store makeup counter and try several types.

Mineral Foundation(Different Shades)

Liquid Foundation

A thin application of liquid foundation is best for 'natural look' makeup and is most commonly used by women for daily purposes. It is easy to apply and is not easily visible. It comes in oil-based formulas for people with dry to normal skin and water-based formulas for people with oily skin. It is very important to match the foundation to your natural face complexion and the tone of your color. Most of the foundations come in pink-based, orange-based and yellow-based formulas. Yellow base is said to fit most of the women and is thus, very popular.

Concealers

Now concealer is not really "considered" foundation but I wanted to add a little info about it as well : Concealer is thickened, even tinted to correct color for particular areas-under eye smudges, pimples or redness, for example. It's thick and comes in compacts or cover sticks. I personally would suggests applying concealer before foundation for perfect coverage. It covers blemishes, imperfections, and under eye dark spots.

This is a concealer Palette/Compact with different shades

These are Concealer "sticks" same thing, just in a stick form

Tinted Moisturizers :

is a sheer, lightweight formula with a hint of color you can use in place of foundation for a natural finish and a healthy glowing complexion. Some contains a SPF 20, and some don't but regardless of your color and skin tone you'll want to get one with a SPF for the ultimate in anti-aging prevention. It kinda reminds you of Lotion with color in it.

So there you have it Ladies, the basics about Foundation, pretty basic right?? It's really not much to it, but to do it. Don't be intimidated by foundations. You really can't mess up when it comes to applying foundation, the worse you can do when it come to foundation is CHOOSING THE WRONG COLOR/SHADE to match your skin tone. So be cautious of that, and I'll speak more on that as well. Remember, if you feel like you've messed up applying foundation, you can always take it off and start over, it's okay...it's not the end of the world ;o) The "key" is BLENDING. I'll be sharing my FAVORITE liquid foundations, concealers, mineral & tinted foundations as well.

Any Questions or comments please be sure to leave a comment in the box below.
Tell me what's your FAVORITE type of foundation and why?? :o)

February Fashion(Clothing) Haul

Hey Beautiful Divas,

SPRING TIME IS APPROACHING US..

Are you LADIES ready for it?? Aren't you glad we can finally hang those heavy coats back up in the closet?? I decided to take a trip to one of the local boutiques(did I mention that I love boutiques) to see if they had any colored pieces(tops, maxi's etc) that I could wear this spring. I'm really trying to get into wearing MORE colored clothing because I always find myself purchasing something in the blacks, browns & grey family, but for some reason I honestly think those colors have the better designs and patterns when it comes to what "I"  LOOK for when I'm shopping. I look for things that I know will compliment MY body/frame(high or low end clothing). And of course makes everyone look smaller ;o). Because everything doesn't look the same way on everyone. Another reason why I cannot leave a store without trying clothes on. Some can do that, but I can't...I need to see it before I leave because I'll have my hopes up for a piece and get home, put it on and not impressed with how it look, and THEN I'll begin to feel my trip of shopping was in vain.*shrug* Maybe you'll want to consider that the next time you take a shopping trip.

Here's the pieces from my February Haul.

Pink Lady:

I call this the "Pink Lady" Shirt, because obviously it's "pink" and it speaks sophistication. You can dress this top up or down. Whether it's for a casual date night or a Sunday brunch outing with your girlfriends you can't lose with this shirt. I like the two pocket detail on both sides(I've noticed they're bringing that back with dress shirts) As you can see, this shirt is pretty "see through" but that's nothing a simple black cami can't fix. Some would might even take a bolder step and leave it at is with just a dressy bra. Not my taste but if it floats someone else style..I say go for it :o) I'd probably pair this with either some skinny jeans(black/white) or leggings depending on the occasion.
Pink Lady Shirt

Teal Deal Wrap Shirt
I called this one Teal Deal because I would say the color is like a teal(its brighter in person) color. This was probably one of my favorites of the purchases because I just really love how this wraps around my body, it fits perfectly( I'll add a pic with me in it). It's made with a stretchy material but not the cheap feeling/looking stretched material. It looks like you'll have to wear a top inside of this piece, but you really don't because once you put it on the material just wraps perfectly. You can pair this piece with practically anything..a pencil skirt, skinny's, leggings (maybe, depending where the shirt stops in the back area) because I don't think leggings are meant to be shown in the butt area, dress pants black/white..the possibilities are endless :o) For some reason I see myself wearing a gold accessory with this one...we'll see :o) I love this one.
The "Teal" Deal

The Flowy Shirt:
I'll just call this top "FLOWY" because that's exactly what it is..just a simple flowy top that you can wear in the spring or even summer. It may look a little "blah" on the hanger but it's really cute. It's very loose fitting.  On the hanger it looks like it's completely sleeveless but it's actually not. It covers a little over the shoulders, but not completely the arms. It reaches mid-waist, meaning it's not long in the front area.  I'd most likely pair this with some black, white, grey or different colored skinny jeans. Some may prefer to wear these with shorts or leggings, or maybe even a skirt, either way you can't go wrong with this particular top and of course a statement piece(accessories) :o)

Mustard Seed  Top:

Well for obvious reasons you can see why I call it "Mustard" seed(lol). This was another one of my favorite finds because it is so versatile. You can wear this as a simple top, or you can wear this as dress(well at least I can because I'm short)..so being short does has it advantages ;o).
The design is also nice...it's the shape of a tree with leaves. I also have another one, just in different colors. So you can tell I like this one..alot. I think I'll just pair these with some leggings or some designed stocking..depending on he weather and occasion. I can be very creative with this look. I think an up-do and some sort of draped earrings would go perfectly with this one..what do you think??

The Month Of February(Cosmetics) HAULS/Reviews

 Hello Beauties,

Thanks for tuning in to my MONTH of FEBRUARY Review on a few products I snatched up and a clothes I purchased from a local boutique in our area.

Products I Purchased :

1. MakeUp Forever High Definition Foundation (Shade 173) (purchased at Sephora $40.00)
2. Makeup Forever High Definition Primer (purchased at Sephora $15.00)
3. MAC's Lipstick in Dubonett (purchased at Mac store $14.50 )
4. Betsy Johnson's Fragrance "Too Too"( Purchased at Sephora $18.00- $82.00)

So Here are my Reviews and Thoughts on the products Listed above:

Makeup Forever High Definition Foundation:

Overall on a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being the best) I can honestly give this Foundation a 9 and a half. I walked in Sephora with the intentions to try on this particular foundation because I've read great reviews on this product, so I had to try it out for myself. I'm use to wearing MAC's foundation but I wanted to switch things up a little and girl it a whirl. Let me just say I was SO impressed with this foundation. It blended in VERY well with my skin tone and to make sure it was the perfect MATCH, I took a pic of me wearing this foundation with the FLASH on (A great trick to try to make sure you found the perfect shade). And low and behold we had a winnerrrrrrrr.... I was pleased, so I had to purchase it. Let me just add that I tried this on at the Sephora Makeup bar before purchasing and I've advise/suggest that you Ladies do the same, just to make sure it'll be something you like. So this is officially one of my favorite foundations. The application came on very smoothly and I didn't have to do too much blending to get the flawless finish I wanted to accomplish. I would've gave this product a 10, but the only reason I didn't was because I EXPECTED it to be a FULL coverage foundation but it really wasn't, although it did blend well I found myself having to add another layer to get the full coverage I wanted, but that's no biggie.
*Ladies if you do decide to try this foundation out, LET me know and shoot me a comment...even if you don't like is share your thoughts on why or why not.

Makeup Forever High Definition Primer:
Well Ladies, I can't really put this on my "Lo" 1-10 scale because I don't know exactly how I feel about this product just yet. What I mean by that is that I really haven't been able to see the BIG difference with this particular primer. Let me tell you, the ONLY reason I even purchased this primer is because I let one of the makeup artist talk me into feeling like I needed to have the primer from the same MAKEUP FOREVER line in order to see the true "HIGH DEFINITION" effect. He was just doing his job maybe?? Or was he really right, because I tell you I liked how this foundation laid on my face and gave me that flawless finish...who knows?? But I will also try this with one of my FAVORITE primers(which I will reveal in another post) to see if I'll get the same finish. I'll be able to let you Ladies know the real deal with this primer, just give me a couple months.
*Ladies if you have this Primer already, share your thoughts..likes, dislikes about it in the comment box.

MAC's Amplified Creme Lipstick (shade: DUBONETT)
Okay, if you know me you'd know that I DO NOT wear RED Lippies or any color light/bright shades in that matter when to comes to lipsticks or glosses. For varies reasons....I really wanted to leave that in the 80/90's because I was never really a fan of that coming back in the 2000's, and because my husband have told me many times that he don't like red lipstick, so I stayed away from it. And another reason is because my lips are naturally dark..so I was not going to bother looking for a perfect shade of red for me...UNTIL..I just got the bug to give the RED tube a another try. So I went to some of my Chocolate Bride sisters and had them suggest some REDs for women of color since I'm a woman of color and needed something that I could just go ask about outright instead of go in the MAC store and begin the guessing game. I'm so GLAD I did it that way because it was sooo much easier to choose from that way.  So I went in (FULL FACED with foundation) to try on the shades they suggested because I wanted to see the actual look with foundation on because to me, it'll give me that true effect. The makeup artist pulled out all the suggested colors(which I'll add at the end for you guys) and we went to work playing in lipsticks..let me tell you, out of the 6-7 suggested I ended up picking 3 of my favorites and one of the favorites in the running was the infamous DUBONETT...it blended and complimented my skin-tone sooo well(which I think is VERY important). I was pleased and so was the makeup artist( I think he was more excited than me).LOL. The shade is so pigmented that I didn't even have to use concealer to shade my colored lips which made it even better.  So I give MAC'S DUBONETTfav's...hey, and even the HUBBY LIKED it..yaaay :o)

List Of the RED Lipshades I was suggested to try:
"Red She Said"
"Mac Red"
"Russian Red"
" Oversexed"
"Ruby Woo"
"Runway Red"
"Girl about Town"
"Rebel"
"Dubonett"
You Ladies can check those out and see if any work for you, let me know which shade you like the best.

Betsy Johnson's "Too-Too" Perfume:

Here's the description of this Perfume via Sephora..

Betsey Johnson's love of dance and her passion for flirty fashion inspired Too Too. Youthful and effervescent, the scent is comprised of passion fruit, mandarin, ginger, and strawberry leaves. It's all spun together with an underlying delicate pink musk that suggests femininity and warmth. To round it out, jasmine, Bulgarian rose, patchouli, sandalwood, and vanilla add just the right touch of radiance.

Sooo, yeah that about sum this fragrance up in a nutshell..I happened to stumble up on this particular fragrance because the beauty and uniqueness of the bottle caught my eyes to say the least. I'm not really that into the design of perfume bottles but I must say BETSY JOHNSON hit it out the park with that little tu-tu around the bottle...oh, about the fragrance(lol). I LOVE the combinations of the scents. It goes and compliment my body chemistry really well(remember ALL perfumes don't smell the good or the same on EVERYONE). This isn't too fruity and it's not to mature/overpowering. It's not strong, but like I stated earlier it's not too fruity either. I really like it...this has been one of my constant go to fragrances. It's not one of those scents that wears off very easily either. I wear this pretty much when I'm dressed for a casual/like setting. Oh, I decide & match my perfume scents based on what I'm wearing/moods...odd..but hey, it works for me :o). So I've give this a 9 and a half on the Lo scale.
*So Ladies if you're ever in a department store or Sephora go take a sniff(that might not be a good choice of words) but you get the point, and let me know what you think.. let me know if it's a yaah, naaaah?? Also, ask the rep could they give you a sample to try it on for a day to really see if you like it before purchasing. Let me know if you're feeling it or you can list some of your favorite fragrances.
